Joanne Nolan is a Customer Support Manager for Oracle Global Software Support. She has worked in multiple support organizations as a Support Engineer and Manager.  Joanne has been with Oracle for four years and belongs to a team that helps customers maximize their support investment and leverage the support tools and resources.

Joanne has been a featured speaker at multiple User Group events.  She has a B.Sc. and an M.B.A from Boston University School of Management and lives in Boston, MA.

De-supported Oracle Forms and Reports Applications Puts Your Organization at Risk (Upgrade, Migrate or Evolve -  determine the direction for your Oracle Forms and Reports Applications)

What version of Oracle Forms and Reports are you running your custom applications on?  If your answer is not 10g Release 2 or 11g, then you are running on an unsupported technology stack.  This means that you are not getting support from Oracle on your software, but even worse you are not getting security patches applied to your environment.  This could mean you could be in violation of company or government mandates. Software Development and Deployment in an Oracle Environment
Andy Blake, Vice President, Paramount Computing Associates

This session will provide an in-depth technical look at techniques and processes that are being used to manage the development and deployment of business application software in a corporate production setting. Examples are drawn from a Java web application with an Oracle backend in a Unix operating environment.  Technologies discussed include PL/SQL Developer IDE, Eclipse IDE, CVS source repository, and Ant build utility.  The session will include a detailed look at underlying Ant build configuration files enabling build and deploy activities from a command line interface resulting in deployment of PL/SQL code and SQL scripts as well as web application modules.

With over 30 years’ experience in the IT industry, Andy has held many roles in software development, systems analysis, application design, and project management.  Paramount Computing Associates (PCA) is a software consulting firm providing business applications development services focusing on Oracle and java web technologies.  As a partner in PCA, Andy has managed several application development efforts and managed the production support activities associated with several of these.

APEX for the DBA
Bryan Grenn, Paychex & UNYOUG Technical Chair

Let Bryan show you how utilize APEX to help you with your day-to-day support of a database or application.  This is a FREE tool included in the database.  Apex can help you create a website to present data about the systems you support.  Bryan will show how to build interactive graphs and reports showing real-time data in a user friendly format.  This information can be securely shared to help fulfill a lot of daily questions DBA's are asked.

Bryan Grenn is an infrastructure architect at Paychex.  He has been an Oracle DBA for 20 years, consulting at many of Rochester's biggest companies.  Bryan has worked as a System Administrator along with being a DBA.  He has experience on most common platforms (Windows, HPUX, AIX, Solaris, and Linux), and has worked with most database features (RAC, compression, partitioning, RAT, XML Database, OLAP).
